Thought for the Day

This section is for the famous quotes, and motivational comments. Mr Shiv Naik has been a very active contributer for this section.

"Strange is our situation hereupon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the stand point of daily life, however; there is one thing we do know: that we are here for the sake of others… for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day, I realized how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labours of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received"
- Albert Einstein

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream." -- Mark Twain.

"You are where you are today because you stand on somebody's shoulders. And wherever you are heading, you cannot get there by yourself if you stand on the shoulders of others. You have a reciprocal responsibility to live your life so that others may stand on your shoulders. It's the quid pro quo of life. We exist temporarily through what we take, but we live forever through what we give" -- Vernon Jordan, in a speech at Harward University, 2002.

"Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside of them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill." -- Muhammad Ali

"If you want to be miserable, think about yourself, about what you want, what you like, what respect people ought to pay you and what people think of you." -- Charles Kingsley

"Most people come into our lives and quickly go.
More people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints on our hearts".

“To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental,
To reach out for another is to risk involvement,
T expose feelings is to risk rejection,
To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk ridicule,
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
T go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure”.

A commentary on the above quote by Shiva abbalkaje
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The risk we take must be moderate in the sense that it is neither gambling (high risk) nor very low (like with a intention to win- fighting with a child or setting a very low standard of achievement in life like " I am trying to pass in the exams or I am appearing to an interview" statements in place of "I am preparing to get rank or I am preparing to get the job --"). The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or identified in the crowd. Is it worth living without taking the risk of achieving something?

Kings and Warriors were trained and groomed in jungles and simple ashramas. They learnt by being with a Guru and by doing everything themselves (not by their parents doing their son/daughter's home work!)while braving all situations. Making it to the Olympics and winning medals cannot happen by using computers and calculators but based on mental make up followed by hard and regular practices. A cow doesnot give milk. It has to be extracted drop by drop. In similar ways medals dont come by themselves. Medals has to be won by putting hard work and regular practices.

"Somewhat I can'nt believe that there are any heights that can'nt be scaled by a man (includes women) who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me can be summerised in four C's. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy- and the greatest of all them is Confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way implicitly and un-questionably. All our dreams can come true if we have the Courage to persue them".- Walt Disney

"In order to succeed, the most needed behavioral change is primarily Attitudinal. People must challenge themselves before they challenge others. They have to move from effect to cause i.e. instead of saying that you are what you are because of external factors, you need to realize that things happen “because of you”. Life is a magnificent trip from birth to death and during this journey you have the power to get the kind of life you want".
